GENERAL INVESTMENT KNOWLEDGE
The reason why I started investing at a young age
I graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a degree in Electrical Engineering. To be honest, I didn't choose this career because it was my passion - I was told that this profession would make me a lot of money and set me up for a successful future.
However, I was lucky enough to have two scholarships - one from the government's Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and one from a private company, Megawide Foundation. This meant that I didn't have to worry about living expenses while I was studying.
I've always wanted my money to work for me, rather than the other way around. So, during my third year of college, I started to invest the extra money I had from my scholarship. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Investing early is a great way to set yourself up for a successful financial future.
Develop a habit of saving money before investing. Regular saving creates a cushion for future investments and unexpected expenses, building financial security and discipline. Consistent saving helps accumulate funds over time and enables wise investment decisions for long-term growth.
If you can't save money for some reason, don't worry. The best investment you can make right now is in yourself. Learn as much as you can, like you're doing right now by reading this blog. Read books online or buy the actual book if you can afford it. Gain some real-life skills by attending free seminars or workshops.
Assuming you're able to save some money and learn about investments, here's my advice: invest as much money as you can. The more money you invest, the more options you'll have for higher returns and relatively safe investments.
